Leicester’s Hospitals has developed world leading expertise in the measurement of prescribed medications in the urine. By measuring the quantity and types of medicine in the urine, we can determine whether a patient is taking their medication correctly (known as ‘adherence’).
The expertise to staff the National Centre for Drug Adherence Testing (NCAT) is derived from a partnership between the hospital, the University of Leicester and the NIHR Leicester Biomedical Research Centre.
NCAT is led by Drs Pankash Gupta and Prashanth Patal, and is co-ordinated by Carole Jones.
