Women’s and Children’s – Clinical Management Group

Women’s and Children’s:

The Women’s and Children’s research team covers five distinct specialty areas:

  • Children’s
  • Genetics
  • Gynaecology
  • Obstetrics
  • Neonatal

Some of our current work in Neonatal research is on deferred cord clamping, speed of increasing feeds, optical coherence tomography, treatment of persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn and an inotropes and infection. Forthcoming studies will look at infection and chronic lung disease, preventing neonatal bowel problems, reducing line infections and treating patent ductus arteriosus.

Our award-winning maternity research team is going from strength to strength. You can read about some of the current studies into pre-eclampsia and preventing premature birth on their dedicated research pages:

The children’s clinical research portfolio within Leicester’s Hospitals has grown significantly and continues to grow. In June 2017 we opened a dedicated Children’s Research Facility which is a key strategic goal for us. We will continue to promote clinical research by collaborating with key allied specialties and supporting our key academic research leads working with local universities.
